Casa Sylvia, Panarea

Casa Sylvia, Panarea

I was contacted in the summer of 2022 by Reggio Calabria-based architect Letizia Vittoriano. She had been working on the project to remodel a house in Panarea, the prettiest of the Aeolian Islands off Sicily, and had come across my work in various magazines and had followed me on social media for some time.

The house she was working on was for a German lawyer who had recently discovered the island and who had bought a run down property which needed a total uphaul. Letizia was chosen, and work began in earnest in spring of 2022, and was completed by September. I was going to be in Panarea that month, so we arranged for the shoot.

The house is wonderfully new, spacious, airy and fresh, with luminous hand painted tiles in blue reflecting the traditional colours of Sicilian island homes, and inspired by the rich blues of the sea and sky of the Aeolian Islands.

This feature was published in AD Italia, April 2023, and in Elle Decor in October 2023
It was also on the cover of Ville e Casali magazine in a feature from June 2023
