Casa Mandarino

Panarea, Aeolian Islands

Casa Mandarino, Panarea, Aeolian Islands, Sicily

This old house in typically Aeolian style islocated off a secluded bougainvillea-strewn alleayway in the hamlet of Iditella, on the north eastern side of Panarea.  The spacious terraces, hidden amongst almond, oleander and lemon trees, offer breathtaking views of the sea and the satellite islets of Basiluzzo and Dattilo, as well as of the volcano of Stromboli, and linked together by interjoining walkways and staircases. The simple geometries of the exteriors are reflected in the interiors, which are sparsely decorated with Sicilian antiques, ceramics and tiles.
